TERM 5 FriendshipsThis term is all about developing the skills that create healthy friendships. Honesty, empathy and managing conflict are all covered in this section and will make it clear to you what it takes to be a good friend.
Week 1 Friendships
Everybody knows the importance of friends but do you know what makes a healthy friendship? Can you spot a friendship that is unhealthy? This lesson focuses on the things that we can do to ensure our friendships are healthy. Week 2 Empathy Empathy is when you know how someone else is feeling. Empathy is a superpower when making healthy friendships. This lesson will not just teach you how to build your empathy for others but will also remind you that everyone deals with life’s challenges in a different way. Week 3 Reporting When someone does something wrong, there are three responses. You can either talk to a friend, ignore it or report it. This lesson will help you to work out which response to choose. It will also help you to identify a serious incident and tell you how to report it. Week 4 Honesty This week’s lesson is all about telling the truth. Why we should be truthful and what happens if we are not. It will also explore the reasons why people are dishonest and help you to deal with people who have told you a lie. Week 5 Peer Pressure Peer pressure can be the reason behind many mistakes. “Go on, I dare you, do it!” are words that lead to many a mistake. This lesson will help you to spot the peer pressure gremlin and give you the time and space to make a decision that will lead to a positive outcome. Week 6 Conflict It doesn’t matter how healthy a friendship is, there will always be some conflict. In today’s lesson we focus on actions that cause conflict. We also compare the two ways of dealing with conflict. You will learn about stormy conflict and calm conflict. By the end of the lesson you should understand that if people stay calm, conflict can often lead to good things. |
